The new Settings section available in Windows 10 Mobile is much better than the one of Windows Phone 8.1: now you can easily find the proper section where to get what you want!
Anyway, in this ongoing post, I will list some useful links and path that can be useful in configuring a new Windows 10 Mobile device:
- How to insert SIM and memory card (Lumia 950).
- How to change the PIN of the SIM: Settings -> Network & Wireless -> Cellular & SIM then click on SIM Settings and finally, going to the bottom of that page, click on the Change SIM PIN (IT: Impostazioni -> Rete e Wireless -> Rete Cellulare e SIM e poi click sul link Impostazioni SIM).
- How to disable unwanted notifications e.g. in the Action Centre: Settings -> System – Notifications & actions: go in the Show notifications from these apps section and, for each displayed app, you can enable/disable all kind of notifications or possibly select only some (e.g. notification banners, show in action center, play sound when a notification arrives) clicking on each item.
- How to disable the ‘New wifi available’ notification
- How to change the font size: Settings -> Easy of Access – More Options – Text scaling (e.g. 120% – 130%) [IT: Impostazioni -> Accesso Facilitato – Altre opzioni – Ridimensionamento del testo]: be careful that if you put the size too big it could not fit well inside some button/tile.
- How to monitor in Windows 10 the hard disk activity in a PC that not have a led (e.g. tablet): TrayStatus
- How to do a Soft Reset:
- Old models with Windows Phone 8.1 (e.g. Lumia 920, 1020 …): press simultaneously power and volume low buttons for about 10 seconds, till a vibration is felt.
- New models (e.g. Lumia 830, 930, 950): hold down the power button till it shutdown (about 12 seconds). Note that in Windows 10 Mobile, pressing simultaneously power and volume down buttons launches the feedback page.
- How to do a Hard reset Lumia.
- How to use fix software problems on your phone (Windows Device Recovery Tool): it works on Lumia, LG, HTC One, and HTC 8X phones running Windows Phone 8 or later versions. For non-Lumia Nokia phones, use the Nokia Software Recovery Tool instead.
