Online tools to know everything about a website and find out how much traffic it gets

There are several sites that publicly give information about any site you ask for … and some of them give even its qualitative value in terms of ads! In particular, I took some useful information from a labnol.org post (Find Out How Much Traffic a Website Gets; The Best Online Tools To Know Everything About a Web Site). Urlm.it is one of those sites: however  the data showed cannot be updated possibly because the scan was done years ago (and maybe that site is not scanning any more your site)! For example. if I search for enzocontini.blog, no result are found, while searching for enzocontini.wordpress.com (this blog URL before I registred a plan with a domain) the following results are founds … but the most requested pages refer to very old posts of 2012, really at the beginning of my blog … and the shown daily number of visitor is the one of that period, so really less that the current ones!! Therefore I thinks that the site, in its current state of update, is absolutely no more reliable, … but it may still be curious to visit it!

Site-stats.org gives information related to your site, not really related to traffic but anyway useful (e.g. where is hosted, what are internal and backlinks, related web sites that belongs to you like your Facebook or YouTube account).

Alexa.com can give you for free some website analysis related to SEO keyword opportunities, Competitive benchmarking, Website traffic statistics,  Audience insights … but for deep information you have to pay!! Entering a website’s domain, Alexa will reveal a ranking based on a combined measure of unique visitors and page views. The rank isn’t based on a site’s traffic alone but is relative to the traffic of all other sites that are monitored by Alexa. Moreover, from results I see for this blog, I suppose that the shown data comes only from USA generated traffic, because only the few posts I wrote in English are taken into account.

Accessify.com should performance tests and get actionable tips on how to optimize it. Possibly your site domain is not available in Accessify‘s directory at the moment so a popup could be shown saying that they will analyze it and the results will be available quickly … asking again!

Similarweb.com started out as a tool for finding similar sites but now offers a range of data including traffic analysis in a clean interface. You get to know the site’s traffic over time, the countries that are sending the most traffic, what search keywords are bringing the organic referrals, how much time users are spending on a site and so on. The traffic reports can be downloaded as PDF files. However only if you are the owner of the site you can connect to Google Analytics, to present more your data on SimilarWeb, otherwise the provided information is not so relevant … and, again, data seems to be related only to the USA traffic, being for my blog considered only post I wrote in English (so probably the only one visited in the USA)!

SEM Rush allows knowing which sites are sending traffic and also the keywords that are bringing the most visitors. You need to register to get 10 free requests but I think it is worth to use it at least once … and you can always use, for registration, a secondary email that I am sure you have to avoid possible spam!! Note that, when you specify the URL of the site you want to check (your own or whatever another one), you can specify the nation.

Google Search Console (previously Google Webmaster Tools) is a web service by Google, provided free of charge for webmasters, which allows them to check indexing status and optimize visibility of their websites.

Google Search Console (3) – Impressions and click

It allows a lot of things, but the best one is, in my opinion, to let you know if there are some errors in some pages of your site, letting you easily identify them and, after your correct them on the site, have a check. The

After some time you will receive an email with the result ogf that check in order you can are aware it the issue is fixed or not after your changes:

Google Analytics is a free and unlimited web stats service that, doesn’t offer public reports like Sitemeter or StatCounter. That means if you were to share your traffic details with another person, you’ll have to add him as a user to your Google Analytics account. If you speak Italian, see this blog to lean more about this complex tool. Last, but not least, it should be mentioned the WordPress Statistics section available in the administration site of WordPress, visible only to the owner of the site/blog. It gives information on Views and Visitors per day, weeks, months, years with details where they came from. Moreover, as we saw, if the Jackpack plugin is active it allows seeing in the Ads tab how many ads were offered and how much you gained since you joined WordAds.
